Foster Caregiving-How to Become a Foster Parent
We often need families or individuals that are willing to open up their home for animals in need. Some foster arrangements are short term and some require a long term or lifetime commitment.
Some examples of short-term foster care:
•Puppies or Kittens too young to be adopted, bottle babies and mothers still nursing young.
•Those in need of special care until they are well enough or healed enough to be adopted.
For any and all special medical needs, we provide the needed medicines or supplies. We also train
you how to administer.
Types of long-term or possibly life-long foster care:
•Those in need of in-home socialization and training for adoption
•Are too old or too stressed for the kennel environment
•Are healthy but overlooked due to FIV or other minor medical condition
•Have been overlooked at the kennel for a long long long time.
Long term fostering helps re-socialize these overlooked, health challenged or senior animals; preparing them to live in a home environment again. Fostering helps make these dogs and cats more appealing for adoptive families, improving their chances of finding a forever home!
For these special animals in long term foster care: We are asking for folks willing to take in these animals, agree to show them to potential adopters or bring them to adoption events. We are asking for a life-time commitment or until the dog or cat finds a permanent home. We will cover expenses for care and any medical need.
If you are interested in fostering, contact us. If you are interested in any of our long-term foster care animals, please let us know which one! We will send you the Foster Agreement Application. You can either email, fax or bring in the agreement.
